Registration is your first step each semester to select the courses you want to take and secure your spot in classes. Whether you’re a new or returning student, registering on time helps you stay on track with your academic goals and ensures a smooth start to your semester.

  • Monday, March 23, 2026 - Fall Registration begins for Online and ABSN Students
  • Monday, March 30, 2026 - Fall Registration begins for On-Campus Undergraduate and Graduate Students

Before You Register ...

Here's a brief checklist of items you'll need to get it done:

  • Review your Degree Evaluation prior to your Advisement Meeting
  • Check your Student Account on BannerWeb
  • Meet with your Success Coach or Faculty Academic Advisor
  • Check to see if you have any “Holds” on your account
  • Plan out your schedule before your registration time opens!

Registration Step-By-Step

Here are the steps you need to take to complete your registration for classes at Utica University: 

What Are Holds?

A hold is a restriction placed on your student account that can prevent you from registering for classes. Holds can be placed for a variety of reasons, such as unpaid balances, missing health forms, or advising requirements. You can view Holds on BannerWeb. It's important to take care of any holds before your registration window opens, so you don’t run into delays.

Here are the steps to determine if you have any holds on your account:

  1. Log in to Bannerweb
  2. Click the four boxes in the upper left corner
  3. Click “Banner”
  4. Click “Student Services”
  5. Click “Registration”
  6. Click “Registration Dashboard”
  7. Click “Prepare for Registration”
  8. Select the term
  9. Active holds will appear on this screen.

Contact Student Success at studentsuccess@utica.edu if you’re not sure how to clear any holds!

 

Here's how to do it:

  1. Log in to Bannerweb
  2. Click the four boxes in the upper left corner
  3. Click “Banner”
  4. Click “Student Services”
  5. Click "Student Records"
  6. Click "Degree Evaluation"
  7. Select the term
  8. Select the program
  9. Click "Generate New Evaluation"

Be sure to check in with them to ensure that your study plan in on track.

  • Schedule an appointment! Plan ahead and schedule your appointment in advance.
  • Review your current semester and plan your future semester courses.
  • Discuss your goals and career aspirations with your Faculty Academic Advisor.

 

This is the fun part! To search for your classes for the coming semester, do the following: 

  1. Log in to Bannerweb 
  2. Click the four boxes in the upper left corner
  3. Click “Banner”
  4. Click “Student Services”
  5. Click “Registration”
  6. Click "Browse Classes"
  7. Select the term
  8. Enter the subject(s) you are looking for, such as "English", "Psychology", "Nursing", etc.
    • You can also perform an advanced search if you want to narrow down your options! Here are some examples:
      • Attributes: writing intensive, Gen Ed Oral Communication, etc.
      • Course Number Range: good for finding courses at a specific level, like when you need a 300+ level course
  9. Review class times, prerequisites, and capacity for each section you are interested in
  10. Take note of the Course Registration Numbers (CRNs) for the sections you want to register for
  11. When possible, always have a few extra courses/sections picked out as a backup plan!

Here's how to do it:

  1. Log in to BannerWeb at your assigned registration time.
  2. Click the four boxes in the upper left corner
  3. Click “Banner”
  4. Click “Student Services”
  5. Click “Registration”
  6. Click “Registration Dashboard”
  7. Click “Register for Classes”
  8. Select the term and enter your alternate PIN
  9. Enter the CRNs of the courses you are registering
  10. You will receive a message with either a confirmation or an error message after submitting. Please see the instructions below to understand common error messages. If it’s an option, you can add yourself to a waitlist on this screen.

 

Always an important step to take! Simply: 

  1. Log in to www.bannerweb.utica.edu
  2. Click the four boxes in the upper left corner
  3. Click “Banner”
  4. Click “Student Services”
  5. Click "Registration"
  6. Click "Registration Information & History"
  7. Select the term
  8. Your weekly schedule and list of registered courses will appear on this screen

 

Registration Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Don’t wait until the last minute to register; classes fill up fast!
  • Have a few backup classes in mind, just in case!
  • Verify meeting times and course formats.
  • Check with your financial aid counselor to make sure you are meeting the credit requirements to receive aid.
