A Memorable Special Olympics
Dear Colleagues,
I wanted to take a brief moment to recognize and thank our faculty, staff, and student volunteers as well as the members of their families who supported the Special Olympics New York Summer Games 2026.
The spirit of your generosity ā as well as, for those of you who supported outdoor competitions on Saturday, your willingness to tolerate the rainy weather ā left a lasting impression on the more than 1,200 athletes and coaches we hosted on our campus this past weekend.
It was great seeing so many of you on Saturday, hearing about your experiences, and having the chance to thank you in person. If I missed you, I apologize and Iād love to catch up and talk about your experience, as I truly appreciate everyone who lent a hand.
I want to give a special note of thanks to Marissa Hall and all the members of the Campus Planning Committee: Robert Allen, James Christian, Shad Crowe, Brian George, Rich Kennedy, Jay Lafayette, Jim Murnane, Dustin Pritchard, Diane Pudney, Kristin St. Hilaire, and Stacy Thomas.
I also want to acknowledge the Student Affairs, Campus Safety, and Facilities teams for their tireless efforts in the weeks leading up to the weekend and throughout the event itself. Their hard work, along with the dedication of so many others, helped create a memorable experience for everyone, especially the athletes.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Nesbitt
President
